A deep earthquake registered by the USGS as M7.1 hit Moro Gulf, Mindanao, Philippines at 02:13 UTC on July 11, 2024. The agency is reporting a depth of 620 km (385 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.

The epicenter was located 106.6 km (66.2 miles) WSW of Sangay (population 3 780) and 112 km (70 miles) WSW of Kalamansig (population 12 821), Soccsksargen, Philippines.

2 151 000 people are estimated to have felt light shaking and 6 576 000 weak.

Based on all available data, there is no tsunami threat from this earthquake.

The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.

Overall, the population in this region resides in structures that are a mix of vulnerable and earthquake-resistant construction. The predominant vulnerable building types are unknown/miscellaneous types and heavy wood frame construction.

Recent earthquakes in this area have caused secondary hazards such as tsunamis and landslides that might have contributed to losses.

PAGASA said the quake is not expected to create damage but aftershocks are expected.

  1. SUNQUAKES AND DEEP EARTHQUAKES ARE DEVASTATING MATERIAL EVIDENCE THAT SHOW THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING THE MOST IMPORTANT PHYSICS FACT ABOUT OUR OWN PLANET AND STAR:
    First of all, sunquakes can never happen if the Sun is entirely made of gaseous plasma. Sunquakes and solar tsunami are devastating observational evidence that show our star as a condensed matter entity similar in many ways to our own planet. On the other hand, deep earthquakes are occurring in regions where should be impossible, and mainstream scientists who are attacking anybody who is thinking outside their box, are totally powerless to provide any explanation, especially that earthquakes are supposed to happen near the surface. However, this earthquake is one of the deepest, it happened at a depth of 620 km. The deepest one ever recorded was a small 4.2 M in Vanuatu at a depth of 735.8 km, it was recorded in 2015. Anyway, the cause of Earth’s deepest earthquakes has been a mystery to science for more than a century, and will remain a mystery unless the current laws of gravity are revised and that of course requires the understanding of the physical cause of gravity. But, according to, my understanding the physical cause of gravity cannot be understood without realizing the real building blocks of matter. In other words, when the real building blocks of matter are realized, then it will be abundantly obvious that gravity is one of the manifestations of the same force that rules the Universe at all physical scales.

    1. Pseudoscience differs from erroneous science. Science thrives on errors, cutting them away one by one. False conclusions are drawn all the time, but they are drawn tentatively. Hypotheses are framed so they are capable of being disproved. A succession of alternative hypotheses is confronted by experiment and observation. Science gropes and staggers toward improved understanding. Proprietary feelings are of course offended when a scientific hypothesis is disproved, but such disproofs are recognized as central to the scientific enterprise. Pseudoscience is just the opposite. Hypotheses are often framed precisely so they are invulnerable to any experiment that offers a prospect of disproof, so even in principle they cannot be invalidated. Practitioners are defensive and wary. Skeptical scrutiny is opposed. When the pseudoscientific hypothesis fails to catch fire with scientists, conspiracies to suppress it are deduced.
