River overflows after heavy rainfall, flooding El Mante neighborhood in Zapopan, Mexico
Flash flooding affected the El Mante neighborhood in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, after the Arroyo Seco river overflowed due to heavy rainfall on the evening of June 24, 2025. The excess water entered houses, disrupted traffic, and brought public transport to a standstill in places.

A sudden overflow of the Arroyo Seco river following heavy rainfall inundated parts of the El Mante neighborhood in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, on the afternoon of June 24. Floodwater reached up to 1.8 m (5.9 feet) in affected areas such as Sonora Street and nearby sports courts.
Up to 30 homes were flooded, with water reaching well above countertop level and leaving layers of mud and debris inside. Several cars were also swept along by the strong currents as the rapid onset left many without time to evacuate or protect their household goods.

Public transport services of trains and buses were partially suspended and rerouted due to submerged roads and tracks in the region.
This marks at least the fourth major flooding event in the area over the last decade and is said to be the most severe in terms of water volume and sediment load, according to the locals.
The event coincided with broader rainfall across the Guadalajara metropolitan area, which includes the municipalities of Zapopan, Tlaquepaque, and Guadalajara. Local authorities are conducting drainage, cleanups, and assessing structural damage in the affected areas.
No casualties have been reported as of June 25.
