A possible tornado associated with a severe thunderstorm caused damage across parts of Largo in Pinellas County, located west of Tampa, Florida, on the evening of June 25, 2025. The event was reported around 19:20 LT (23:20 UTC) and affected densely populated residential areas, including mobile home communities in Largo and Pinellas Park.
Dozens of homes sustained roof and structural damage, particularly in the Ranchero Village and Bay Ranch mobile home parks. In Largo, approximately 20 roofs were torn off, with substantial debris scattered throughout the area. To date, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities.
Widespread power outages affected over 6 000 customers, with emergency and utility crews deployed overnight to begin restoration and assess hazards. Roadways were also temporarily closed due to downed trees, power lines, and structural debris.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tampa Bay has not yet confirmed the tornado classification. A damage survey is scheduled for June 26 to determine the event’s intensity and path. Early radar scans and eyewitness reports from residents and news crews point to the presence of a tornado or a localized gustnado, likely triggered by rapidly intensifying storm activity.
The thunderstorm system produced heavy rainfall, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, quarter-sized hail, and damaging wind gusts. The event developed amid heightened instability from a stalled upper-level low interacting with the sea breeze front, typical of early summer storm setups in the Florida Peninsula.
Local authorities have asked residents to avoid the damaged areas while crews continue recovery and safety inspections. No evacuations were ordered, and no tornado watch was in effect at the time, although a severe thunderstorm warning had been issued.
