Severe flooding affected large parts of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, on June 24, 2025, following a period of intense afternoon rainfall. Floodwaters reached depths of up to 1.20 m (3.9 feet) in areas such as Colón and Isla Pantenaria, with numerous vehicles stranded or swept away.

The heavy rainfall was triggered by the interaction of multiple atmospheric systems, including low-pressure channels over northern and central Mexico, an upper-level low, moisture influx from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, and the position of the monsoon trough along the South Pacific coast.

Flooding has also been reported in neighborhoods like Jardines del Bosque, Lomas del Paraiso, El Dean, Ferrocarril, 5 de Mayo, Del Carmen, and Higuerillas. Roads affected include the Lopez Mateos side lanes heading north to south, Las Aguilas Colony, Raza Island, and Patria Avenue. Guadalajara’s Line 1 light rail service was also temporarily suspended due to flooding on the tracks.

In the municipalities of Zapopan and Tlaquepaque, the Arroyo Seco River overflowed, inundating up to 20 homes and sweeping away vehicles. More flooding was reported along the El Mante drainage channel and in the vicinity of Lopez Mateos and Copernico avenues.

Emergency crews have been active throughout the day, focusing on high-risk areas and carrying out targeted rescues. So far, there have been no reports of serious injuries. The State Civil Protection Unit (Proteccion Civil Jalisco) confirmed deployments across Zapopan and Tlaquepaque, targeting neighborhoods such as Miramar, El Briseno, Adolf B. Horn, Villa Fontana, Arroyo Seco, Parques del Palmar, and Presa de Las Pintas.

Floodwaters have started to partially recede in some areas, but full damage assessments are still ongoing.
