Multiple weather alerts have been issued across northern and northeastern Texas on Tuesday, May 6, as severe thunderstorms move through the region.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has been put under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 16:00 local time (LT) on Tuesday. Damaging gusts of up to 113 km/h (70 mph) and hail of up to 5 cm (2 inches) are forecast, along with a few tornadoes. Multiple tornado and flash flood warnings have been issued across the region.
Austin, San Antonio, and Houston were also under a Tornado Watch on Tuesday, with forecasts calling for large hail and heavy rainfall across the region.

The Storm Prediction Center issued an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms across the region, surrounded by a broader area of Slight Risk through Tuesday.
The storms are driven by an omega block weather pattern over the United States, which has established two upper-level low pressure systems, one over the Ohio Valley and another over the Southwest.
A lot of moisture is being pulled from the Gulf of Mexico and moving north along a front that stretches across Texas and Louisiana. This is the cause of the heavy rains and flash flood threats across Texas on Tuesday, with the threat also extending over parts of Louisiana.
This weather system is expected to continue producing severe weather as it gradually weakens and shifts eastward from Tuesday through Wednesday, May 7.
