More than 500 homes destroyed, 38 people killed and 24 missing in floods and landslides across Nepal

Flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains have left 38 people dead, 24 missing, 51 injured and 5 100 evacuated across Nepal in 20 days to July 3, 2021, the Nepalese Home Ministry said.
A total of 790 houses have been inundated and 519 destroyed. In addition, at least 90 cowsheds and 19 bridges were also destroyed.
The authorities mobilized Nepal Army personnel, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Forces to carry out rescue operations.
Floods and landslides are common during Nepal's monsoon season which usually starts on or around June 10 and lasts through September 23.
Monsoon brings almost 80% of the country's average annual rain of 1 600 mm (63 inches). While some places like Mustang can receive below 300 mm (11.8 inches), more than 3 300 mm (130 inches) can fall in places like Pokhara.
