This is incorrect, according to the NWS “ Doppler Radar and observational analysis support the damage being consistent with straight-line winds and
downbursts. Wind speeds were estimated to range from 65 to 80 mph
based on data from the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar in Newark,
NJ (TEWR), consistent with the resulting damage. There is no
evidence of rotation and no damage surveys are planned”

I noticed the differences between previous record lows and the new record was not much. I could see the hysteria being somewhat justified or just puzzling if it were a twenty degree spread. Old point – it’s not the story but how it’s being reported that has become the key issue. Besides – thought we were supposed to be experiencing global warming – so what is this reported cooling all about? Ice age coming? I am sure that Missy Gore will have a ‘scientific reason’ (a.k.a. a lie) for all of this. Someone break his hockey stick?
Like many, stopped listening to this clown show (other than for entertainment value) long ago.

This kind of irrelevant ciclones have only start being catalogued as such less than 10 years ago. NHC would not have named a twelf hour storm going nowhere in the middle of the Atlantic in, say, 1995. Not to speak any year near 1851, when the records began, this perturbation would not have even being noticed by humans!!!!! So take this kind of “records” whith a pinch of salt 🙂

Wow- 181 feet! The high water mark on our local river is 34 feet, and that was from a catastrophic 50 year flood! Prayers for all the people threatened by these floodwaters

Love the coverage on Antarctic cold snaps, but I spotted a few temperature mix-ups that need fixing. For instance, -40℃ is not -104℉ — it’s actually -40℉, where both scales do their handshake. Kunlun Station’s record low of -79.4℃ definitely isn’t 175℉ (that would be one hot cold!), but about -111℉. Also, the South America/Chile temps should be called record-breaking lows, not highs. Getting the numbers right matters — especially when trying to keep the climate conversation cool and credible!
