Flooding has left several districts cut off and injured at least four people, with widespread damage to homes and infrastructure. Authorities say nearly 270 houses were destroyed and more than 250 others were damaged. In Logar Province, Pul-i-Alam district alone lost over 3 000 ha (7 400 acres) of farmland. Severe livestock losses were also reported, which have further hampered the local food supply. Several main and secondary roads were blocked, cutting off access to rural communities.
Local authorities confirmed that road clearance is in progress and that emergency aid has started to reach those in need. The Logar Department of Natural Disaster Management said nearly 2  000 households had received assistance as of June 30.
Afghanistan frequently experiences flash flooding due to multiple factors like intense rainfall events, climate variability, steep terrain, deforestation, and poor infrastructure.
