Multiple tornadoes touch down in North Dakota
More than 10 tornadoes reportedly touched down in North Dakota, prompting a no-travel advisory in Burleigh County on June 27, 2025. Tornadoes were reported in Bismarck, Hannover, and Linton.
Multiple tornadoes were reported across parts of North Dakota on June 27, as severe thunderstorms moved through Burleigh, Emmons, Kidder, Morton, and Oliver counties.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) received at least 8 tornado reports on Friday, though some accounts indicate that up to 10 tornadoes may have touched down in the affected areas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Bismarck issued multiple tornado warnings during the storms. Four tornadoes were reported in Burleigh County, while one tornado was reported in each of Emmons, Kidder, Morton, and Oliver counties.

The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department issued a no-travel advisory due to the severe weather.
“We are requesting NO TRAVEL in eastern and southeastern Burleigh County due to the extreme weather occurring! Please heed this request,” the sheriff’s department stated.

A tornado was confirmed north of Linton near Temvik in Emmons County at approximately 22:12 local time (LT). Another tornado reportedly touched down north of Bismarck in Burleigh County at around 22:25 LT and lifted at approximately 22:45 LT.
A tornado was confirmed near Hannover in Oliver County, touching down at approximately 19:41 LT and lasting for about 9 minutes before lifting. The tornado reportedly struck a wind farm in the area.
As of Saturday morning, June 28, the threat of severe weather has subsided. However, the tornado reports remain preliminary, and additional details are expected following further assessment.
