A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit east of the Philippine Islands at 01:58 UTC (09:58 local time) on June 24, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 5 km (3.1 miles). Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is reporting M6.3 at a depth of 34 km (21 miles).

The epicenter was located 366 km (227 miles) E of Baculin and 376 km (237 miles) ENE of Manay, Davao, Philippines.
There is no tsunami threat from this earthquake.
PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was tectonic in nature and that aftershocks are expected.
The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage. There are likely to be no affected structures in this region.
